Assassin's Creed Shadows: Enemy Camp Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Enemy Camps in Assassin's Creed Shadows are the hostile outposts, bandit dens, and military garrisons spread across feudal Japan and Awaji Island — the primary source of the crafting materials both Naoe and Yasuke need to upgrade gear, and the most efficient locations to send Scouts for resource smuggling.

Every camp is fully documented on Map Master's Japan and Awaji Island interactive maps, including the dynamic camps that spawn randomly and the camps that can be replaced by Events or Port Traders at the same location.

What Enemy Camps Drop: Materials and Scouts

Every Enemy Camp contains crafting materials scattered in bundles and chests. The material split follows character lines:

  • Naoe's upgrade materials — Hemp Cloth (light armor), Ironsand (daggers and blades), Silk (trinkets and accessories). Found in chests throughout camps and confirmed in the descriptions of heavily guarded camps.

  • Yasuke's upgrade materials — Leather (samurai armor), Tamahagane (katana and heavy melee), Oakwood (bows and ranged gear). Larger stockpiles often sit behind locked doors in bigger camps.

  • Hideout resources — Crops, Wood, Minerals. Found in resource bundles that require Scouts to smuggle. Tag any large resource stock with a Scout, and the materials are deposited directly in the Hideout stable chest at the next seasonal change. Scouts are restocked at any Kakurega for 200 Mon each.

  • Seasonal reset — all resource stocks in Enemy Camps replenish when the season changes, making the same camps repeatable farming targets across a full playthrough.

Two Approaches: Night for Naoe, Direct for Yasuke

Naoe's approach — night infiltration is consistently the most effective method. Reduced visibility allows silent takedowns with Kunai (retrievable from enemy bodies) and Smoke Bombs before guards can raise the alarm. Naoe's Grappling Hook and Ascension Boost (Shinobi skill tree) allow wall entry from any angle.

Yasuke's approach — direct assault in daylight. Yasuke can engage multiple enemies simultaneously with parrying and chain takedowns. Sabotaging the camp bell or cutting alarm lines before engaging prevents reinforcement calls. Several camp descriptions specifically note brutes — Yasuke handles these most efficiently through the unblockable parry mechanic.

Ambush camps — one category of Enemy Camp is designed to trigger combat on approach rather than on entry. The table flags these: "When getting close, you will get ambushed, so stay alert." These are most common along road corridors and do not follow the standard camp layout.

Named Camps With Legendary Chests

Two Enemy Camps in the guide contain Legendary Chests — making them functionally similar to Castles in reward value:

Tozuku's Lair (Katano Foothills, Izumi Settsu) — three chests including one Legendary Chest. Poorly guarded relative to the reward.

Genbao Fort (submitted by community) — one Legendary Chest plus two Samurai Daisho. Functions as an unofficial Castle equivalent.

Camps That Co-Locate With Viewpoints

Several Enemy Camps are built directly around a Viewpoint tower — clearing the camp is required before synchronising the Viewpoint above it.

Confirmed co-location camps: Deserted Outpost, Mandoyama Tower, Muggy Lands Tower, Nakayama Watchtower, Forsaken Pagoda, Lost Hills Summit, and Nabari Lookout. In each case, the guide table notes: "deal with all enemies before synchronizing the viewpoint."

Dynamic Spawning: Camps That Change

A subset of Enemy Camps in the guide are marked as "randomly spawning" — locations where a camp may or may not be present depending on game state, seasonal timing, or prior clearance.

Two specific table entries note that if the camp is absent, a Port Trader sets up at the same location instead.

This dynamic makes the Enemy Camp guide the most volatile of all Map Master's AC Shadows guides — and the one most worth checking before planning a material farming route.
